NETFLIX ORDERED BY BRAZILIAN COURT TO TAKE DOWN MOVIE PORTRAYING JESUS AS GAY

Following a petition filed by a Brazilian Catholic organization that argued the “honor of millions of Catholics” was hurt by the airing of “The First Temptation of Christ”, a Brazilian court has ordered American media-services provider, Netflix to take down the controversial movie portraying Jesus as gay from its streaming platform. The movie has caused an uproar across the world including Brazil whose citizens are predominantly Christians.

According to the judge; "The right to freedom of expression... is not absolute. Exhibiting the 'artistic production'... may cause graver and more irreparable damage than its suspension."

However, Netflix has decided not to comment on the ruling by the judge as the ban is only temporary while a final decision is made.

The film was created by the Brazilian YouTube comedy group, Porta dos Fundos and it has sparked a lot of global conversation as people are shocked at the storyline which depicts Jesus as gay since it was released. Netflix and Porta dos Fundos are yet to react to the latest development.
